Should You Be Feeling Angry Right Now?

May I suggest yes and no, yes, if you believe that whatever political leader that you helped vote into power has let you down and no, if you really thought that your sum total effort in the governance of planet Earth was to mark an X in a box once every four or five years.
Is it not ironic that a tiny country in the Eastern Mediterranean that is celebrated as the birth place of civilisation is now in danger of setting into motion the collapse of the tower of (Babylon), civilisation as we now know it and why? All because the ruling aristocracy unwisely bought a consignment of knock down price Chinese calculators. Was it their fault that they were four digits shy of accuracy?
Shall we look at the realities? Now the United States of America share a language, share a history and share a culture, though I suggest you do not suggest to a Bostonian that he shares a culture with the folk that live in the deep south, he might choke on his Crepes!
Within Europe on the other hand there is a very deep cultural divide between the North and the South, (OK there is in America as well, stop trying to complicate the issue and for God sake help that Bostonian, he's going blue in the face).
In the north of Europe they take their responsibility to get on in life, live a very orderly and well planed life very seriously and in the South? In the South there are different priorities. Do not get me wrong, they work hard, work their socks off even, but with the exception of a minority at the end of the working day its time to live, love and enjoy.
Is one formula right and the other wrong? That I will leave to your judgement, but I have my own opinion and will leave you to guess what it might be.
Anyway the problem right now is that the system has failed, no not only in Europe, but World wide. We were not in fact allowed that much time to glory in our ultimate victory over that "disgusting and undignified system called Communism', before the roof of Capitalism began falling on our heads.
So, back to the question, should you be feeling angry right now? Anger is a very powerful and often destructive emotion, the yang of love, if you like, if channeled positively it can be creative, otherwise it can be very, very destructive.
Why should you be angry? Because once every four or five years you put an X in the box of whatever smiling face most suited your situation? Yes you should be angry, angry at yourself for irresponsibly delegating your own individual responsibility and if you have children you failed them, you let them down miserably!
Do you really think those smiling faces are that much smarter than you? That they occupy some moral high ground, or perhaps most important, are you really sure you understand their motivation for wanting to be your leader, your decision taker? Sorry but if you do you are either, first the kind version, lazy, or stupid! I,m going to drag you back to the now and what is currently happening economically within Europe.
The German hierarchy for reasons best known to themselves wanted, or perhaps needed some form of amalgamation of Europe and with their neighbours France, a country they twice forcibly occupied during the preceding century set about forming a European Union. It was and is their baby.
It now becomes increasingly clear that in their head long rush to greater and closer almalgamation they made one mother of a mistake. The Euro zone, the shared single currency.
Now the dynamics of this union might as well have been scribbled on a serviette after one too many glasses of wine (Oh they were!) and whilst everyone had at least a full pack of credit cards everything was wonderful, well until some annoying little brat pointed out that in truth everyone was bankrupt! Oh, oh, who let that kid near a microphone?
Now in Europe Germany is now being asked to pick up the tab and they are not at all happy and that is an understatement! But if these careless Mediterraneans shared, or enjoyed a Germanic mentality we would not be in this mess!
OK, on balance be angry, but only in so far that you can channel your pent up emotion positively, if not find yourself a grand old tree and take your anger out on him. He will not mind, He's seen it all before. Terrence Aubrey

I've always said that I do not want any person in government office who WANTS to be there. And no, the politicians are not smarter than me and just might be whole orders of dumber.
I took my anger out on a tree once. It no longer exists. I do get angry from time to time ... about once a decade. :) Okay, now I'm being silly, but I really did take down an entire tree. It wasn't a big tree, just in the wrong place (the culvert that carries rain run-off away from our house) at the wrong time.
I do wonder what will become of the European Union. In the US, even though we have regional cultures, we are still all pretty much just Americans at heart. We pull together when we have to and support one another as best we can. I'm just not so sure that will happen in Europe.
I enjoyed your very witty article. I love your sense of humor.
Hugs,
Dianne
