How was last year for you? There was in general very little optimism across much of the western world last year, economic problems, environmental fears and generally speaking feelings of doubt and pessimism regarding the future were widespread.
What can you do about that? Actually, not so much, but what you can do about improving your own life and prospects is a different story altogether, this is something that you can actually influence dramatically and positively. Is your glass half empty, or half full? What is the difference, you might well say, well actually all the difference in the world, the difference between hope and despair and where can the hope come from? You! No that is too simplistic you may well be thinking, but no, that is the reality, both for you and every living person, but can you tap into and utilize this spring of hope?
How beautiful are you, no really this is a serious question because if you are alive there is a great beauty within you just waiting to manifest. The source of beauty lies within you because the source of beauty is life itself. Ok you may not have the looks of a model, but does anyone find a dead model attractive? Maybe this might seem to you an odd analogy, something that is clearly obvious, but we often overlook the obvious and that which is beneath our very nose. Not so happy with your figure, or physique? You can deal with it, it is within your power, ok, it will take discipline and determination, but if your happiness is dependent upon your efforts it is a small price to pay, yes?
So if you are alive the only limits to your own potential are the ones you set yourself, maybe the famous phrase of Barack Obama of "yes we can" was excessively optimistic, simply because we have no control over "we", but "Yes YOU can" is a different story all together, this is something that you can really implement within your own life and starting right now!
You are unique, there is absolutely nobody like you in the whole wide world, is that not something incredible, something that is very positive, only you need to wake up to your own incredible potential, allow your individuality to shine. It is the greatest asset you have and it is completely yours, no one can ever take it away from you, it was a gift for you and you alone.
Why not share that incredible gift with others, your opinions, perceptions and points of view are valid, completely valid, so far as they are yours and not borrowed, or copied from another and do you know what? Within that bundle of contradictions, hopes, fears, knowledge and ignorance that goes to make up you is a beauty and attractiveness that is irrisistable, go for it, realize your own potential and then share it with all around you. You can compete on any level, you are not here through accident and if you are not yet attached, or committed within a relationship, you can become irrisistable!

This was a great article Terrence, one that will inspire many for the New Year. I have to say I love David Levitt's comment. He obviously doesn't realize how irresistible women find a man with a sense of humour, which he obviously has. I agree with you, everyone is unique and has something to offer. I've encouraged my friend to try on-line dating but she tends to focus on the negative and doesn't seem aware of all the positive she has to offer. I'm going to keep working on her.Thanks for the positive comment Brianna. Yes its sad that so many people are hooked on the barbie and John ? image of what is attractive. Can you imagine a world full of Barbies and Johns? Thanks for sharing the inspiration. I was also sitting at thinking about the New Year and how much importance should I give to the starting of this year. In fact I realized, all I need to do is just be positive and happy at all times, no matter if it is the starting, middle or end of the year. Thank you.DMYes Mystic, we are a very strange bunch us humans. We invent a method of measuring time, by the hour, day, week and year and then we celibrate bits of it, and we wonder why we have not yet been visited by another race from another planet? In an area of the country (England) of my birth , (Yorkshire), they have an age old saying. "Nowt queer as folk", roughly translated it means, nothing as strange as people.
Terrence, I was just thinking about this today, how we can contribute to changing some things, but not all, and how we can view the world from the perspective of what's wrong with it or what's right with it. Great article, very inspiring, thanks!Thank you Jennifer.
